Frequently Asked Questions

What type of ceiling fans do you install?

Ceiling fans come in all sizes, types and blade counts, so there’s truly an option to suit your Sunshine Coast home as well as your personal style. Each with their own benefit and purpose, here are some of the most popular ceiling fan options we install.

Standard Ceiling Fan

The most popular option for QLD homes, standard ceiling fans bring a versatile design that is easy to install (which means less disruptions for you) and the ability to fit seamlessly with most room decors and styles. Typical features of standard ceiling fans include a diameter between 122cm and 132cm, a built in light, and a five blade design.

Industrial Ceiling Fan

Industrial ceiling fans are designed for commercial spaces and are engineered to maximise airflow. Commonly installed as three blade fans, industrial fans can have up to 8 blades to direct airflow to heat and cool large workspaces, industrial settings and more.

Commercial Ceiling Fan

Anyone who has sat in a hot and sticky restaurant or cafe knows the importance of airflow. Commercial ceiling fans are designed for spaces with a height range between 3m and 7.5m. A cost-effective alternative to air conditioning, these fans come in a wide range of styles and designs which allow for seamless integration with any cafe, restaurant, office or retail space.

Outdoor Ceiling Fan

There’s nothing quite like enjoying the outdoors during Queensland’s long, hot summer nights. But nothing worse than sitting in a pool of your own sweat on the balcony, verandah or patio. Outdoor ceiling fans are a must for socialising or spending time outdoors, with the design able to deliver quality airflow with higher protection ratings to withstand the elements.

Our skilled electricians are qualified to carry out any electrical repair or installation across the Sunshine Coast. Ask us today about our range of electrical services, including new ceiling fan installation or upgrading of existing ceiling fans.

How long does installation take?

Most installations take one to two hours per fan. Jobs requiring new wiring or ceiling reinforcement may take longer.

Do you install fans in outdoor areas?

Yes! We install outdoor-rated ceiling fans designed to withstand the Sunshine Coast climate.

Can a ceiling fan be installed where only a light was before?
Often yes, but the wiring and ceiling support must be assessed first. Light fittings are not always suitable for fan loads. To get a quote or more information give our team a call on (07) 5294 1003

Is fan installation cheaper than air conditioning?

Definitely. Ceiling fans are far cheaper to install and run, and make a perfect energy-saving solution.

Can I install ceiling fans on my own?

We don’t recommend installing ceiling fans by yourself. Qualified electricians are needed to meet Australian regulations that protect against injury and electrocution. At the same time, installing new fans is more than picking a spot, pulling out the ladder, and rolling up your sleeves.

Ceiling fans are attached to the, well… ceiling. These must be secured correctly to avoid injury, with proper wiring. Throw in the need to remove sections of your ceiling, secure a mounting box and bracket, not to mention remove any old fixtures, and it’s clear that ceiling fan installation is best left to the pros.

Our happy customers

I was blown away at the efficiency, expertise and overall friendliness of DFYA Electrical. Trish has a beautiful phone manner and Dean is a bloody good tradesman and a top bloke to boot.
Seriously, if you want top shelf service delivery, you'd be nuts to look elsewhere.
I'm a huge fan 😉

Very efficient from first contact to post-service needs. I was given free advice the first time I called and seek for electrical services. However, when my circuit breaker continued acting up, they were able to send a sparkie the same day which was very convenient. The awesome Dean was very thorough and walked me through the problem and troubleshooting. Overall, highly highly recommended!

My experience with Laurie, the Electrician with DYFA was VERY positive. I highly recommend him to all locals who are wanting someone they can trust. He communicates directly and promptly and explains carefully and patiently. His strengths are definitely his reliability and follow - through and hard work. I feel safe with Laurie as my Go - to - Man at DYFA Electrical.

Had a great experience from the first call. Trish is fantastic, very helpful with the whole process. And the electrician that came out, Laurie, was awesome! Twice he was out to the house (quote, job) both times was really easy to talk to about what we wanted done, didn’t rush but also got the work done quick, on time and a job well done.
Thanks Team! 👏
